The Stories Behind the Badge

FBI Stories is a digital archive dedicated to preserving the firsthand experiences of former FBI agents.

The website gives retired agents a place to tell the stories of their careers — the investigations they worked, the people they encountered, the decisions they made, and the experiences that shaped their lives.

Unlike traditional true-crime coverage, FBI Stories is not primarily about crimes or criminals. It is about the people behind the badge. Each agent has a dedicated profile featuring a collection of professionally written stories drawn from personal interviews.

Editorial Process

Every story begins with an in-depth personal interview with the agent. That interview is then shaped into a structured narrative by an experienced journalist, reviewed and approved by the agent before publication.

Supporting materials — photographs, audio excerpts, historical documents, and timeline records — are gathered and verified before being included alongside the written account.

Participating as an Agent

If you are a former FBI agent interested in sharing your career on FBI Stories, we would like to hear from you. Each participant reviews and approves all content before it is published. Sensitive or classified information is never included.
